PRODUCTS' ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

The environmental impact score gives an accurate vision of the impact of a product by considering 14 planetary impact factors*, such as greenhouse gas emissions, water scarcity, ocean acidification or the impact on biodiversity. The impacts are measured at every stage of a product’s life cycle and calculated by looking not only at sourcing, production and transportation, but also consumer usage and packaging recyclability and presents it in a clear way.

Finally, additional information on the manufacturing conditions and the packaging of the product are detailed in the "Environmental Impact" section of each product description page, to provide 100% transparency on our products.

GLOSSARY

Pictogram CO2 emissions

CARBON FOOTPRINT

The amount of greenhouse gas emissions (CO₂) released throughout a product’s life cycle, i.e. during the sourcing of ingredients, production of packaging, finished product manufacturing, transportation, usage and the waste management of its packaging.

Did you know?
On average, 70% of the carbon footprint of a shampoo comes from the energy needed to heat the water in your shower.

The ELVIVE expert tip
Just by decreasing the temperature of the water during rinsing your shampoo, you can flatten the hair cuticle, enhance shine from your hair and also help to reduce your impact on the environment.

WATER FOOTPRINT

The amount of water used throughout a product’s life cycle, i.e. including the water used during sourcing of ingredients, production of packaging, to manufacture the finished products in the factory, a product’s usage (e.g. shower) and the water needed to treat the wastewater.

Did you know?
On average, 60% of the water footprint of a shampoo or a conditioner comes from the use phase! This is why we’re working to improve the rinsability of our shampoos and conditioners. You can also choose leave-in conditioners, which are often better for the planet.

The ELVIVE expert tip
You can choose to save household water in lots of ways with Elvive as we have developed rinse-free cleansing and leave in products that can be used without any preliminary washing. Our dry shampoos can be used to postpone your next shampoo and our leave-in serums are ideal for taming, refreshing and styling between washes.
